Father Robert's
First Mass & Choral Evensong
Saturday 5th July 2008 was a day that all attending St Mary’s church, for Father Roberts 1st Mass, will remember for many years to come. The lasting smile on Father Robert’s face told us so much. Like many others who go forward for priesthood, the day a priest is are able to stand at the altar and know they are fully able to serve Gods people in the way Christ himself did over 2000 years ago, to bless the bread and wine and make it the spiritual body and blood of Jesus, must be one of the high points in any priests life. After the Mass at St Mary’s, Father Robert along with parishioners, visiting clergy, family and friends attended a reception given by the congregations of Corringham and Fobbing at Gardner Hall. Followed by Choral Evensong at St Michael’s Fobbing bringing a wonderful day to a close.

Father Robert's Ordination
On Sunday 29th June over 200 people came to St John's to witness Fr Robert's Ordination to the priesthood. We were joined by family and friends of Fr Robert and even a coach full came from his formers parishes of Christ Church, West Green and St Paul's Harringay. Bishop Laurie presided over the Ordination and Eucharist and the preacher was Canon Robin Eastoe from St Margarets, Leigh-on-Sea. Fr Robert was supported by fellow clergy, readers and parish sisters from London, as well as many members of the three worshipping communities of Corringham and Fobbing. The service was followed by refreshments including strawberries & cream and sparkling wine in the church garden.
