St Mary the Virgin
The Parish Church of Corringham, dedicated to St Mary the Virgin, stands today on what has become the outer edge of Corringham village. It remains however, the spiritual focus of this Community, a "Sacrament in stone" reminding us daily of God's love and forgiveness in the world of yesterday, today and tomorrow. A holy place where generations have witnessed, and continue to witness to the Risen Christ and His living presence among us.
The life of this church goes back some thousand years to Saxon times, and so its history is long and often chequered. However, even in the darkest times it has continued to be a place of prayer and worship, so much so that the very fabric of the Church is steeped in prayer. We hope you will be able to find time to come and visit us and experience the sense of stillness and peace for yourselves.
