Baptism
There is nothing more exciting for a priest than to add to the numbers of people that proclaim Christ as their saviour through baptism.
Due to the limited space at St Mary's, we hold our baptism services throughout the year (except advent and lent) at 12.30pm, after the Sunday Mass has ended. This ensures that those being baptised and their families and friends are the focus of our attention.
A member of the clergy team will visit the family of those to be baptised, to talk through the meaning of baptism and also to explain how the service will run on the day. This also ensures that we begin to build up a relationship with families and neighbours from our local community.
Each service is relaxed and informal.
Baptism is open to everyone who lives within the parish boundaries or who has a proven connection with the church. However, if you are unsure or would like further details, please contact us.
There is no charge for a baptism, however,
collection is made at the end of the service.
If you would like any further information about baptism or would like to make a booking please contact a member of the clergy team or come along to our vestry hour.
at St John's, in the town centre, any Wednesday evening between 7.00pm to 7.45pm
